Fillers 101: Your Biggest Questions ANSWERED

If you’re reading this blog because you’re considering trying fillers for the first time, know that Bergen County Botox will take excellent care of you.

As you may already be aware, fillers are minimally invasive procedures that give consumers the outcomes they desire without the need for pricey cosmetic surgery. When performed by skilled experts, the results are absolutely natural-looking and happen quickly.

It is crucial to seek a knowledgeable individual that is qualified, certified, and experienced. Our board-certified Professional Dr. Galope, administers all injectable and filler treatments at Bergen County Botox to guarantee that our patients get the finest outcomes possible with a caring and individualized approach.

Dermal fillers are gel-like substances injected beneath the skin to enhance volume and fullness to specific regions of the hands and face. Additionally, they help to soften the look of fine lines and can even be used to highlight features like the shape of the face and the curves of the cheeks.

What are they constructed of?

Multiple kinds of dermal fillers are used at our medical spa:

1. Juvederm®

Juvederm® is comprised of hyaluronic acid, which is a chemical that your body naturally produces. It works best to restore fullness and fight indications of aging in the lips, cheeks, and mouth area.

2. Restylane®

The hyaluronic acid gel is used by Restylane® to treat wrinkles and creases. Your face and the backs of your hands can regain their fullness thanks to it. It is yet another fantastic alternative for enhancing fullness and minimizing aging effects on the lips and the region surrounding the mouth.

3. Kybella®

The injectable medication Kybella®, which is derived from deoxycholic acid, is created especially to treat the presence of moderate to severe submental fat, sometimes known as a “double chin.”

4. Sculptra®

Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a synthetic material that is biocompatible and stimulates the formation of collagen, makes up Sculptra®. The ideal uses for Sculptra fillers include addressing deep skin wrinkles and folds as well as adding volume to the face.

How can I tell which is best for me?

We offer free, no-obligation consultations if you’re unclear about which injectable or filler is best for you, so don’t stress about that! We go over the benefits and drawbacks of each during the consultation and work with you to create a treatment plan that is personalized for your unique needs. A more natural-looking result is ensured by this attention to detail. We also take into account all of the following throughout the consultation:

  • The problems you want to fix
  • How many wrinkles do you have
  • Where on your hands or face you’d like to get treatment
  • How long do you hope the effects will stay
  • Your medical background

Do injections of fillers hurt?

Although everyone’s threshold for pain is different, the majority of our patients say that the procedure is more comfortable than they anticipated! All of our clients receive a topical numbing lotion that acts prior to the injection, and since our products also contain lidocaine, you will start to experience numbness from that as well. A vibrating tool is also used by our injector to divert attention from the injections.

They last for how long?

Because each dermal filler is unique, depending on the product, the area of the face injected, and the quantity of product injected during your procedure, your results could last anywhere from six months to two years.

How Can I Best Prepare For Fillers Now That I'm Ready To Try Them?

It’s preferable to cease using blood thinners like aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (ibuprofen, naproxen, etc.) for a week before to treatment because fillers, like any injection, might cause some minor bruising. Additionally, refrain from taking vitamin E, fish oil, and herbal supplements for a few days before the treatment unless absolutely necessary for medical reasons. (Be sure to tell your injector about this during your consultation.) Please don’t stop taking any blood thinners if your doctor has prescribed them.

What Should I Expect Following Fillers?

Because bruising, redness, swelling, or pain in the treated area are all common/expected adverse effects of injections and will typically take a few days to go away, we urge that you please arrange your treatments with ample time prior to big events (NOT the day before your wedding). Apply a cool compress for 5 to 10 minutes every half an hour to the treatment region (do not apply ice directly to the skin) as part of the immediate after-care procedure. For a full 24 hours, stay away from any activities that increase pressure or heat, such as rigorous exercise, spas, saunas, and hot showers.
